HAPPY 2020, EVERYONE!!!
Not only is it a whole new year, it's a whole new decade! And now that we're done celebrating it's time to get started on all those promising New Year's Resolutions. Here's a few of mine: (1) Take the next step with a personal creative project by putting it on it's feet. (2) Straighten up my office (my co-workers will thank me), and (3) Learn something new. Fortunately I'm in the perfect place for that! At RG, there's always something new to learn and tons of skilled and inspiring teachers to learn it from.
No matter what your goals are for this year, we're excited that you're pursuing them here with us - and don't forget to keep us updated on your progress by tagging us on social media using #ripleygrier.

See you at the studios.

Greetings and Happy New Year!

We are off to a fantastic start this 2020 "Clear Vision" year. As I told my staff, start this year with resolutions to achieve charity in your life and career. Define your goals and work toward them. A New Year is a good time to clear clutter and clean out old / unused / impractical "Stuff" as well as old paradigms that may be holding you back from your dreams and desires. Start off with your living areas and work spaces. Don't make it a time consuming chore, but take a couple of hours a week to go through papers and clothing and other "collectibles" and eliminate all but the most positive and useful items that you own. After the first month, go through those useful items and further pare down your belongings. After two months if you see that you are not going to use those "useful" items, sell them, give them away, donate them or trash them. This year only spend money on things you really need in your life and don't be lured away from your plan to clean out and clear out your clutter you will feel lighter and more prepared to move freely toward your goals.

Speaking of moving freely, strive to continue your workout plan and/or come up with a new 2020 plan. Recently I have been re-thinking my fitness routines and will be doing smaller wider range movement exercises. I already incorporate a 9 to 11 minute routine every morning before I start the day. I lay on top of the covers and do a small movement / big movement routine mostly stretching the spine and extremities, then some resistance work using my arms and legs. I then move to the floor for some yoga stances: downward dog, plank on elbows and then on hands finishing with a modified sun salutation. I have been doing this for over a year and have only missed 6 mornings so far. It's quick and easy and I start the day right. I am continuing to teach my functional fitness classes and when the weather is comfortable I get outside to bike and walk on the beach. Strive to incorporate your fitness plans in your day, keep in mind it doesn't have to be one hour on the treadmill. Shorter routines that incorporate flexibility movements often work better.

Better and Better, Patricia

Happy New Year!

I hope everyone enjoyed the holidays. I just got home from a 3-week trip to Tulsa (Oklahoma) Los Angeles, San Francisco, Sacramento and Napa (California). It was a lot of fun. For New Year's Eve we went to a big Hollywood party up at 'Chez Plaid' owned by Forever Plaid originator, Stuart Ross, who was one of our first clients (at the original RG location on W. 72nd St). We met my friend Rayleene in Santa Monica and took her up to San Francisco with us, where I met up with one of my pep band members, Julia, who showed us around.

Now, I'm happy to be home. I especially missed my dog, Johnny. I also went upstate to visit my family in Albany when I got home from the 3-week trip. I could only stay up there for one full day, but I'm looking forward to visiting again either next month or in March. I got a lot of presents from my family upstate since I hadn't seen them since before Christmas. I'm exited to start the spring semester of my junior year of college later this month.

Have a great start to your year! Jeannie
