There's magic happening here...
A short walk in any direction will tell you that. Twenty tap dancers perfecting a new sequence, while an opera diva warms up across the hall. Around the corner, an Open-Call is spilling out into the hallway, where hopeful performers are nervously reading their sides to the Broadway posters that line the walls. In another studio, a burgeoning theatre company puts the final touches on an original show that they will perform for the first time next week in the Black-box theatre.

Greetings:
Spring is just around the corner. My advice is to commit to a fitness plan that will work for you. As we've learned through the years, taking classes, working out, doing a routine at home, stretching, participating in outdoor activities, sports, and even just actively walking are fitness activities we can all choose to do. This is part of a life-style fitness plan that can be achieved by all of us of varying ages and levels. There is no getting around it; staying healthy and enjoying life can only be accomplished by a commitment to staying active. Regular exams and taking appropriate medications is, of course, beneficial when needed, but no doctor or specialist (as we heave learned), no medication, no other person can do this for you. If you put fitness in the forefront of your life, you will be able to weather the storms as they come in a much better physical and mental state. I have been teaching fitness since I was 25 (March 1972) at the Lotte Berk Method in Manhattan. It has been 47 years since that first day (I took one year off to play tennis in 1979), so technically as of this month, I have been teaching for 46 years.
Back in those early days and through the 90s, I taught over 20 classes per week (got burned out twice). I have participated in many sports & activities including dancing, gymnastics, bowling, tennis, basketball, softball, track & field, water-skiing, snow skiing, downhill bicycling, running, bodyboarding and golf (while writing this I realize "What a jock!"). I belonged to Crossfit, Jack LaLanne (big inspiration in the 60's), NYSC and other gyms. I credit this constant interest in moving and activity to be a big factor in my continued good health. Being physical and studying spiritual philosophies through the years: Christianity, Buddhism, Hinduism, Taoism, as well as guidance from lifestyle gurus like Lydia Bach (The Lotte Berk Method), Jose Silva (The Silva Mind Method), Professor Yun Lin (BTB School of Feng Shui) and my U.S. Marine, Butch Grier, have given me much needed balance in my life and kept me striving to be "better and better every day, in every way." And, as in my favorite poem The Road Not Taken By Robert Frost, "I took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference."

Hello everyone!
This month Hofstra's Men's Basketball Team participated in the Colonial Basketball Tournament (they were ranked 1st), so I had the pleasure of going to the CAA Basketball Tournament in Charleston, South Carolina with my school's Pep Band! I played the tenor sax and trumpet.
It was a long bus ride down (15 hours!) so we had some games to play and some homework to do. We got there on a Saturday and left on a Wednesday. We shared hotel rooms in North Charleston.. Our Basketball Team won the first 2 games we attended, but unfortunately lost the last one.
Next week is our Spring Break and I am going up to visit my extended family in Albany. Happy Birthday to Pop (Butch Grier) on the 18th! Happy St. Patrick's Day and Happy Spring!! Jeannie
Jeannie is the teenage Daughter of RGNY Owners Patricia Ripley & Butch Grier
Happy Birthday to you.
